Last week, I had the opportunity to work with a student pharmacist from MCPHS who was shadowing me at North Falmouth Pharmacy. She was eager to learn and asked thoughtful questions about our patients' medication regimens. It got me thinking about how our partnership with MCPHS benefits our patients.
Student Pharmacist Involvement
Our pharmacy has been working with MCPHS for several years, and I've seen firsthand how student pharmacists can enhance patient care. They bring a fresh perspective to our team and are eager to learn from our experienced pharmacists. By working together, we can provide more comprehensive care to our patients.
Clinical Perspectives
The students we work with are in their final year of pharmacy school, so they've already completed extensive coursework in pharmacology and therapeutics. When they join us, they're ready to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting. This means our patients get the benefit of their up-to-date training and new ideas.
Extended Support Capacity
One of the biggest advantages of our partnership with MCPHS is the extra support it gives us. With student pharmacists on board, we can take on more patients and provide more personalized care. Here are some ways this extended capacity benefits our patients:
- More time for medication counseling and education
- Faster response to patient questions and concerns
- Increased ability to monitor patients' medication use and adjust as needed
- Enhanced collaboration with other healthcare providers
As I reflect on our partnership with MCPHS, I'm grateful for the ways it enriches our patient care. From the fresh perspectives of our student pharmacists to the extended support capacity they provide, it's clear that this collaboration is a win-win for everyone involved.
